Chef João Rodrigues has recently left Restaurant Feitoria (Lisboa), where in 2011, he achieved his first Michelin star. He is now on a new path, following his mission to showcase authentic Portuguese cuisine and present to the world the beautiful products of his country that are yet to be explored.

About the event

The Vulkana Supper Club hosts the best of the Nordics, and Europe's culinary talents on a monthly basis in the setting of an old whaling vessel converted into a state-of-the-art of spa boat. This is not a restaurant; it is a space for conversation, relaxation, and cuisine. Is a place for people to come together in the intimate environment of a dinner party, create memories and experience unforgettable culinary moments.

Chef João Rodrigues joined Feitoria kitchen in 2009, at the time with chef José Cordeiro. Together they won the Michelin star in 2011. With Cordeiro's departure in 2013, Rodrigues took over the leadership of the fine dining restaurant and has been able to confirm the prestigious award year after year. 

After 13 years at Feitoria, João is now going solo, preparing to open his new project, Monda: a word that refers to the agricultural process that eliminates the weeds that prevent the growth of cultivated plants. The new restaurant will be located on a farm, close to the countryside and the sea. It will have vegetable gardens and will raise animals, trying to be as self-sufficient as possible. 

During his years at Feitoria, he also created the project Materia, a non-profit organization in an attempt to define the true identity of Portuguese cuisine. "Materia emerged from the idea of showing the best of our country to foreigners and the Portuguese themselves: our menus use products that few people are familiar with. Our intention is to present those wonderful Portuguese products yet to be explored".

A chef driven by the love for his land and its ingredients, João will join the VSC in December, bringing the tradition of the beautiful land of Portugal, playing with a mix of Atlantic and Norwegian raw materials!

A tasting menu will be served. Wine pairing and the use of all the spa facilities on board (sauna, hot tub, and hammam) are included in the package.
